<center><b>OOC:</b></center> PLAYER NAME: Whatever you’d like us to call you! EMAIL: Your email address - this won’t be posted publicly anywhere, but we’d like to know where you prefer to be reached. AIM (optional): Your AIM screenname, if applicable! Many of us use this to communicate out-of-character, so we encourage it, but it’s definitely not required. <center><b>IC:</b></center> CHARACTER NAME: Your character’s name. DISPLAY NAME: What your character’s display name is on their comm: that is, what they gave their name as when they were first taken to Sojourner. CANON: The name of the media your character is from. If an original character, put “OC.” If an original character from an existing fandom, put “[Fandom] OC” - for example, “Marvel OC.” If an AU version of a character from an existing fandom, put “[Fandom] AU.” CANON POINT: The point in your canon your character’s being taken from: the beginning or end of a work, a particular episode, et cetera. AGE: All characters in Sojourner Deep must be either adults or self-sufficient and independent. If in doubt, just ask us and we can talk about it. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: What your character looks like. Feel free to include details about their height, weight, coloration, features, build, style of dress, mannerisms, vocal characteristics, or anything else that might help us understand what your character looks like during RP. Include as much as you feel like: we love detail, and even if you’re using a PB, description is characterizing. HISTORY: Your character’s life story up to this point. Please provide at least two paragraphs in your own words describing their history, for reference for other players. If beyond that you’d like to link to an external wiki or anything else, feel free. PERSONALITY: Your character’s personality and psychology. What kind of person are they? What’s their temperament like? What motivates them? What are they like in day-to-day situations, with other people, under stress? What are their strengths and weaknesses, their virtues and flaws? How do they respond to conflict? You can format this however you like, but we’d like at least three solid paragraphs that give us a sense of how your character would interact with others in this game and how they might react to things that happen. ABILITIES: Your character’s skills, aptitudes, powers, and other abilities. Please interpret this generously: if you think it might be worth knowing, put it down. This applies to supernatural/paranormal powers and “mundane” abilities both. If your character knows five languages, this is the place to say so. For the sake of game balance we may have to negotiate changes on these, but the important thing is to be upfront and comprehensive for anything that isn’t a foregone conclusion (you do not, for instance, need to tell us that a 21st century Western adult character knows how to drive a car, but if they’re a racecar driver it bears mentioning). POSSESSIONS: What your character arrives with. Characters are permitted their clothes and other small items on their person, as well as one significant item that they can carry. If this item is particularly powerful (or, e.g., a pet), we’ll consider it on a case-by-case basis. ANYTHING ELSE: Anything else you’d like us to know.
